By Metro News Network
SafeBlock, a Logan Circle-based startup building a neighborhood safety and communication app, closed a $4.2 million seed round led by Revolution's Rise of the Rest fund. The app lets residents report non-emergency issues — from streetlight outages to suspicious activity — directly to their ANC commissioners and MPD district liaisons.Co-founder and CEO Keisha Williams, a former D.C. government technologist, said the app already has 8,400 active users across six wards after a soft launch in January. The funding will support expansion to all eight wards and the hiring of 12 engineers."311 is broken for most people," Williams said. "We're building the neighborhood communication layer that D.C. deserves."
