Shaw's Historic Howard Theatre Announces $2.3M Renovation and Fall Concert Series

The Howard Theatre on T Street NW, one of the nation's most storied Black music venues, unveiled plans for a $2.3 million renovation that will modernize its sound system and expand backstage facilities while preserving the 1910 building's historic character.The renovation, funded through a combination of D.C. preservation grants and private investment, will add state-of-the-art acoustic panels, upgrade the lighting rig, and create a new green room and artist lounge. Construction begins in June with a targeted September reopening.A 12-show fall concert series has already been announced featuring both national acts and D.C. artists, with tickets starting at $25.
